This is...#1: for my Aunt, who has been requesting it of me for far too long, and now I'm Finally getting around to it!...and #2: just for some fun!
I LOVE to accessorize my outfit with a scarf... tonight, I am showing you two to three different ways to tie your scarf and give you the classy, yet comfy, look. Oh I love it!
So....
Scarf Tie Numero Uno:
This is probably my favorite way to tie a scarf. This Tie is easiest if you are using a thick, long scarf...a thin, short scarf would not give you the full, comfy look this scarf does. Now...how do you do it?
Step 1: Put the scarf around your neck...from there do the action you see in the photo. The part of the scarf you see hanging in the photo, should be shorter than the end that is going around your head. Next...
Step 2: you should have two hanging pieces of scarf...this can be a cute way to wear the scarf as well, just relax the "noose" around the neck for a more comfortable fit (so another optional Tie style). Moving forward...
Step 3: is to tie the hanging pieces into a "knot". (Please ignore the big chubby face at the top of the photo....) You will want to pull the peices vertical, like so, not horizontal as if you would be tying a normal knot. And from here...
COMPLETE! Mission Accomplished! Well done...pretty soon you can tie this in your sleep.
The next Tie is much easier, and faster...finished product looks like this...
Scarf Tie Numero Dos:
So...
Step 1: form a "lasso"with your hand....
Step 2: put it around your neck, like so...
Step 3: pull the loose ends through the lasso...
COMPLETE! And there you have it! Take note, one end is shorter than the other to give a nice effect. If they were both the same length it wouldn't look as sweet! Take note, you could even stagger the lengths more than I have in this photo...I usually have one shorter still than what you see here!
And last but not least...the easiest of all Ties...
Scarf Tie Numero Tres:
I suggest doing this tie with a thinner, shorter scarf. Doesn't look right with a thick one...
Step 1: just knot...and..
Step 2: adjust...
Wallah! El Fin!
And an alternate way is one end in front of the shoulder and the other behind!
I hope these Step-by-step photos help you learn how to do it on your own! Have fun with your style! Remember..."Style is nothing if you don't have the posture to show it off with"

Is this not the most delightful room you have ever seen? I dream to have a reading loft like this some day! I love everything about it....from the sunlight, to the solid wood frame. Just makes my mouth water.

First of all, I can't believe this is my FIRST post of this new year! Blog, I am so sorry for neglecting you for too long! So many new things happened in 2009 and, I'm sure, many more will in 2010...but that's for a different time...
This evening my Mom and I have been spending our spare time watching back to back episodes of "House Hunters" and "House Hunters International" on HGTV...it makes me so excited to search for my own home someday (soon?) with my man! And to decorate the house to reflect who we are, oh that will be just so delightful!
We have also been watching a couple shows on the Food Network Channel, for example, one we watched was called..."5 Ingredient Fix"...I had never seen it before, but after watching one episode, my mom and I set is as a series recording on our DVR. Not to say the host of the show doesn't bug me a little, but her ideas make me excited to cook! I must admit, when my sister got married and fell in love with Food Network Channel, I did not share the love. I was bored watching any show on the network...but out of the blue I have grown to enjoy the network and it makes me so excited for my own kitchen and recipes that I can share with my friends and family!
All this brings me to my new idea...if you know me at all, I tend to think of a brilliant idea, but to follow through with the idea and keep it up, usually doesn't last long. But this one is dedicated to my future hubby, so this will not be forgotten and unfinished...besides, how can you ever finish a Recipe Book?! That's right...I have started my very own, as I call it, "My little, BIG Recipe Book...". I am SO excited to write down all my favorite recipes my mom and my sister make as of now. And I'm also excited to learn new tricks and new ingredients from the the Food Nework
So...to my TBA Husband, this book is dedicated to you and I can't wait to cook and bake "the favs" for you!

I cannot even explain to you the way I feel about what you are about to see. I happened upon this website, my dream website, just the other day by complete accident. I was on Facebook...nothing new there...and a random ad was calling my name, from the top right hand corner of my screen. It called yelling, "Vintage Clothing...you know you want me, you know you do, so click here..HeRe..HERE!!!" Okay, not exactly that way, but the "Vintage Clothing" was really there. So...I clicked! My computer screen zoomed through the vortex of cyberspace and brought me into heaven on the screen. Lets just say, the pieces of fabric looming there before my eyes, took my breath away, I passed out, came back to life, and still thought I was in a dream! Some of you may think I am a bit ridiculous and may think of this as stupidity, but guys, I mean really...this was something else. I immediately thought of my sister knowing she will love this website just as much as I do! What's on this website you ask? Mod. Retro. Vintage...that's all I need to say. 1940's and 50's era clothing...shirts, pants, short, sweaters, swimwear, and DRESSES! In the words of my Grandpa DeBerg, "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!" Now...these pieces of clothing are 100% me, but 0% in my budget. Why is it always that way? The stuff you love is always out of price range...so disappointing. Just to put my Mother and Father at ease, I will let you know, that although all of these pieces of fabric should be hanging in my closet, none will come from this website. I keep all of these photos so I can remember what I'm looking for when I go to Saver's and Y's-Buy's. Now I can't tell you all about this clothing without showing them or telling you the website! So the website: http://www.modcloth.com/store -- and please, if you ever have any thought that you need to buy me a gift...go here for inspiration! You will never fail me!

My future closet...

P.P.S - All captions on the photos were done by me, not the website...don't drool on your keyboard!)

Amen. The End.

Merry Christmas!

Yesterday, my mother made cookies and cookies and cookies! Chocolate Chip Cookies and Peanut Butter Cup Cookies! For lunch today she made Twice Baked Potatoes! They were delicious...along with her cookies! The storm is coming full speed ahead so today, the 24th, my Father ran to get some milk! Especially with cookies in the house, milk goes fast in our family!
But beyond the fact that the house smells like Christmas baking, we're listening to Christmas music, candles are burning, present are wrapped, and we're watching Christmas Classics...today is something more than the memories and the family! It the day we celebrate Jesus' birth! He is born, our King has come to rule the earth! Amen!

Matthew 1:23 - "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" - which means, "God with us."

Luke 2:13-14 - "And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Isaiah 9: 6-7 - "For unto us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty

will accomplish this."

How can anyone not want to celebrate this Mighty Lord's birth at Christmas time?! That is the greatest story ever told, and true! Hallelujah! Christ the Lord is born!
