49 Years alive...21 Years and 11 Months as a Mother (and counting)

My mother, Marilyn Joyce Maurer, is 49 years old today. Happy Birthday Mommy! I could not have asked for a better mother! You have touched my life in more ways than you know. I love that you're my mother and I love even more that you're my friend.

Top 21 things I love about my Mother-

I love...
when you tell jokes that make you laugh at yourself
your sense of humor
your big glasses and hair from the 90's
the funny faces you make, that I don't like, when you're trying to make me laugh
when you say you're just "closing your eyes" because they're heavy, but not actually falling asleep
when you cover your mouth when you're laughing hard so no can see your upper lip dissapear
when you dance in the living room to music
the way you smell...like my mom...White Musk and make-up
your soft cheeks
when you email me at work
when you leave me random "I just want you to know I'm proud of you and love you" notes
your personality
your heart
your love...for everyone, not just for your family
your kindness
that you're my friend, not just my mom
that you raised us to love the Lord and for being that example for us
you for teaching us the meaning of trustworthiness
you for teaching us the importance of having a relationship with our Lord
you for the sacrifices you have made in order to be an amazing mother
how you have loved our daddy unconditionally, showing us what it means to love and honor your husband

The cutie couple then...

Just as cutie now...

My Beautiful Strawberry Blonde Mother

OH my goodness! Hotter than a burning fire!

Mom, you have gotten even prettier with age! Happy 49th Birthday Mommiosa! I would want no other mother in this whole world!

The Plans...

I have to work today, so I'm grateful my Aunt Colleen is up here to spend the day with the birthday girl to keep her busy! After work, we will be meeting at Texas Roadhouse for some yummy birthday food. Then, finally, we will be giving my mother her birthday gift from Dad, Graham, Audra, and Me...a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Pro! They are the best! I cannot wait to buy all the fruits and veggies and give it a whirl!
This is what I made my mom for her birthday...

It's a blank white canvas from Walmart. I painted everything on it. I know she'll love it, I just hope we can find some place to put it.
And tonight...we will be watching the Phoenix Suns dominate the Hornets while we drink our healthy juicer drinks! Booya!

I hope you have a wonderful birthday Mom! I love you!

It's New

i've decided to re-title my blog. scriptorium seemed interesting to me and fitting at the time i started, but now it just doesn't seem too personal. so, i wanted something that would somehow relate to my life. i decided on "19 Years in the Midwest (and counting)" because, well, i have lived in the Midwest for 19 years, aaannddd they are counting. i have lived in:

Boyden, IA
Hull, IA and
Sioux Falls, SD

honestly, i do not know where the Lord will have me in the next ten years, but it will be interesting to see if i'm still in the Midwest or some place completely different. i'm excited to see where i will be, what i will be doing, and who i will be with. :)
so for now, i'm here...in the Midwest!
