The First Snow

i didn't even get my fall photos taken.i got off work at 6:00 and tonight was the night i was planning on taking the Canon EOS 20D out for a long overdue date with some pretty leaves and half naked trees...didn't do it fast enough. shoot. it was all ready to go for me...lens on, batteries in, and camera card inserted, but i got a call to mow. the last mow of the summer...moved the height of the blades down to a 4 instead of the regular 5 in order to give the yard a good shave before it has to fend for itself beneath the cold, mouse home, dog pee infested, white winter snow. lucky for me, piles and piles of wet grass were left over after the yard was cut to perfection. so my job wasn't done yet. i pulled out the rake and the wheel-barrel and started piling the grass in the wagon. filling it with a little more than two piles and it was already overflowing...got to bring it all the way to the back of the house to dump it. so down the hill to dump and back up to pile. it was roughly 6:45 by this time. and lets just say i didn't get in the house until 7:35...just to give you an idea of how much grass i had to rake and dump. ridiculous. it got plenty dark on me. by this time i was in the back yard, looking for the darker spots knowing those would be the clumps of grass. it was starting to get colder, i knew it was supposed to snow, but didn't think it actually would since it was warm enough to not where a coat on my lunch break. but then it started to rain, and the wind picked up. every pile of grass i placed in the wagon, from then on, more than half flew back out all over the yard because the wind was ridiculous. so i pulled up my hood and tried to finish the best i could.
i was finally all finished so i headed inside to warm up and wash up. my hands were stained lime green and green sludge had mushed under my finger nails. disgust. i washed my hands 5 times and got a finger nail scrubber...and still, at 11:24 pm my hands won't cease to smell like dead fish. yuck!
although i expected beautiful reds, greens, yellows, and oranges for photos...i got white instead. the first snow!

It's Official

i have a job! i have officially had one and a half days of work at Walmart Vision Center.

i:

do pre-exams
fix glasses
order glasses
do paper work
do insurance
do computer work
wear a white lab coat
i am a doc tech and a office manager.

i was getting ready for my first official day of work...a little nervous and a little excited. I got on my outfit: brown dress pants, brown dress shoes, a white collar shirt layered beneath a tan sweater vest. i had put on my foundation and powder and headed to the bathroom to do my hair. i put mousse in my hair and grabbed my curler brush and blow dryer...clicked the blow dryer to high and......nothing, absolutely nothing. my dryer was dead. i sat there with my hair wet and drying and mousse in it. i ran upstairs looking for a hair dryer, found nothing. searched everywhere downstairs, found nothing. what could i do? my hair was drying fast and if it air dries there would be no body to make it bounce! what a dilemma! after a few short seconds of debate i had to go with the obvious...turn the fan on high with a 68 degree breeze from the space heater. you can't dry your hair with cold air...just does not work...so i had to mix in some heat with the space heater. it got my hair dry just fine, but in the end it looked like a nasty frizz ball. and what did we do at work that day? oh yeah, take photos to hang on the wall of employees...brilliant.
